Current CD Project

Aurora Lights is currently working on a new CD about Mountaintop Removal Coal Mining. This CD will be similar to the Moving Mountains CD produced in 2004, but will have the addition of an interactive multimedia map of the Coal River Mountain area in Boone and Raleigh counties in southern West Virginia. Discipline specific curriculum will also be available online for teachers interested in using the multimedia CD in class.

The final product, with tentative release date set for June 2009, will have between 12 - 15 songs and 5 - 7 interviews. We hope that this project will reveal to a larger demographic current coal industry practices as well as give the people affected by mountaintop removal the chance to tell their stories and share their rich culture. Proceeds from this compilation will go directly to support local activists in southern West Virginia.

We are still accepting submissions for this compilation.
